Dana Bevard began piano at the age of five and violin at the age of eight. She started private violin lessons using the Suzuki method before attending the Peabody Preparatory in Baltimore, MD. She earned her Bachelors of Music from the University of Maryland and her Masters of Music from Florida State University, where she held a graduate assistantship in studio teaching under Corinne Stillwell.

A versatile performer in solo, chamber music, and orchestral music, Dana has previously held positions with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, Panama City Pops, and Sinfonia Gulf Coast. As a chamber musician, she has performed in a variety of chamber groups including piano trio, flute quartet, string quartet, and a mixed new music ensemble for the 19th Biennial Festival of New Music. Most recently, she gave a solo recital to benefit the Annapolis Pregnancy Clinic, which provides free medical and mental health resources to expecting mothers. Together with pianist Sarah Young, they raised over $1700 for the clinic. Dana also enjoys playing music by underrepresented composers and is passionate about promoting music by women and people of color. She aims to incorporate these pieces into her teaching repertoire.

Her principal teachers include Corinne Stillwell, David Salness, and Ivan Stefanovic. She has also received orchestral training from David Kim, the Concertmaster of Philadelphia Orchestra and Lisa-Beth Lambert of National Symphony. Currently, she produces and films educational videos for her YouTube series on Black composers, plays with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, and runs a successful private violin studio out of her Annapolis home.
